About PCA
Palmetto Center for
Advocacy, Inc. is a non-profit dedicated to improving the health
of the citizens of South Carolina. Through public education and
advocacy regarding health issues such as obesity, we hope to
encourage South Carolinians to adopt healthy lifestyle habits,
including healthier diets and increased physical activity. By
reducing the impact of obesity on our state, we can also reduce
the impact of obesity-related diseases such as diabetes, high
blood pressure, and heart disease.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the day-to-day life of South
Carolinians. Through partnership with state agencies,
universities, schools, businesses, faith-based organizations and
community leaders, we hope to help South Carolinians improve
their health and quality of life.
Currently, we are partnering with SC State University to reduce
the impact of obesity in our state. We are also partnering with
Palmetto Project, Inc. to promote the SC Health Information
Referral Network, which helps the uninsured and underinsured
locate healthcare providers in their communities.
